Man, there’ve been two postseason béisbol games so far, and they’ve both been fantastic examples of why the playoffs make for fine viewing: good, tight starting pitching; neck-and-neck scoring all the way to the late innings; last-gasp, final-swing heroics; you name it. It feels like when you have two high-class frontrunners going out to the lead and dueling all the way around in a horserace. It feels like that kind of playoff ice-hockey that goes into overtime or multiple extra periods. Yes, the best of playoff béisbol is like this, unlike repetitive hoopball or bombastic American Gridiron Throwball. Playoff béisbol and playoff hockey and high-class frontrunning horseraces and 1-nil fútbol games are always superior spectator events, nuanced and subtle.
