Scoring for The Gunners were King Kai Havertz, Starboy Bukayo Saka & Martin Ødegaard. If you don’t frequent the snob chichi grocery shoppes, you might not be aware that it’s currently Hatch Chile Season, uppercase lettering intended, since Hatch Chile Season Is Apparently A Big Annual Thing Among The Haute Cuisine Aficionados, And Probably Even Among The Middlebrow-Types, Too. Again, for the people who don’t go near the premium-priced sellers of top-shelf foodstuffs, it’s time to let you know that we are now in HATCH CHILE SEASON, all-uppercase intended as a visual aid to denote SHOUTING. SHOUTING!

Reading used to be fundamental.

A jumbo jet airplane is not nearly as quiet as a library; nonetheless, the conditions for long, absorbed, uninterrupted stretches of high-intensity reading are nearly as good at 30,000-ft. as they are among the stacks & shelves on terra firma. Every time we’re on a several-hours-long nonstop flight, we cannot help but do our best consumption of the written word. Even better, thanks to some useful technology, we can actually munch on airline-sized bags of pretzels & biscuits while simultaneously turning to the next page! This is one of the greatest combinations known to man: feeding the mental mind while at the same time nourishing (loosely speaking) the physical body. Soaring!

Sunday morning at the time today’s snapshot lede was taken. And being Sunday morning, that meant plenty of time to whip-up from-scratch waffles on the ol’ (and we mean old, like 30-plus years!) Belgian waffle iron. Don’t cheat yourself out of enjoying from-scratch waffles. Cooking from scratch is one of the best expressions of self-care (and care & love for your housemates, if you have that particular living arrangement and they also like your cooking) you can undertake. Get the real buttermilk out, melt some butter, throw in the eggs; add all that wet stuff to the flour & sugar & powder & soda & salt; mix, but not too well, otherwise you’ll end up with tough & chewy waffles, not the crispy-on-the-outside but fluffy melt-in-your mouth on-the-inside kind shown here. Show yourself some love & care & tenderness. Do it, don’t let Big Breakfast dictate how you should eat. Down with Kelloggs, down with General Mills. Up with your own supply!
