It’s been a week…of wet, wild, wilting, wearying & (soon) welcome weather!

Next-to-last show for your 2026 amphitheater season last night, and normally we limit our day-after Saturday recaps to snapshot, still-photo ledes; we do not want to be one of those mouthbreathing concertgoers who spend the whole evening holding the damn glass oblong in front of their nose and probably blocking the view of the poor souls behind them. But today we make an exception, because the visuals practically require the accompanying music; after all, it was all soundtrack selections all night because The Maestro, the premier film-score composer of our time, Mistah John Williams! Bravo!

Not sure if this counts as manmade (or even womanmade!) global warming, but whatever the cause, your Hot Philippine Summer continues with no end in sight…

We had long been aware of the phenomenon of the local jacaranda trees being able to bloom twice during a calendar year — once at the usual, never-varies time between Memorial Day and Independence Day, or from late-May through early-July; and the other time being somewhere in September. However, we had never actually visually confirmed these reports of a second, later bloom; it remained a myth, a unicorn, a Yeti, a leprechaun, a Sasquatch, an instance in which supply-side trickle-down economics actually accrued a measurable fiscal benefit to the lower rungs of the socioeconomic ladder etc. But then came yesterday…

The final match of Week 2 of your 2026-27 English Premier League season took place today with your No. London Arse traveling to the midlands for the always tricky challenge presented by Aston Villa at Villa Park. It was goalless at the end of the first half and for nearly a quarter of an hour at the start of the second half. But almost at the stroke of the hour-mark, starboy/starman/talisman Bukayo Saka found Riccardo Calafiori’s sliding cross arriving on-time at his right boot at the mouth of the Villa goal, and he slotted home at the near post to give the visitors their famous 1-nil to The Arsenal scoreline and all three points for the win. Two goals in two games for Saka, and two wins in two matches so far for the Gunners, who have yet to concede a goal. As always, #COYG.

Savage! But we’ll allow it! And if you have a tantrum like the one shown in today’s editorial-cartoon lede, well, go pound sand on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, or if you don’t like people of darker complexion, the sand on the shores of Lake Ontario! Thank you for your attention to this matter etc.!

A little color & botany today to add some ultra vivid scenes to your otherwise dull, gray & listless experience! Yea, verily, that’s a big assumption on our part; your life is probably much more interesting than ours — probably!
