The 2017-18 English Premier League season begins in earnest this coming Friday when the Arse host Leicester City. Today the Gunners had their final preseason tuneup, defeating Chelski F.C., 1-1 (4-1 pen.), in the Community Shield. Tuesday Sniping: Immortal Jeanne Moreau Edition

Turner Classic Movies, one of the few channels worth watching among the 500 or so on offer, the others being QVC and QVC2, BBC News and, of course, AHC, not, despite what the programming might suggest, the Adolf Hitler Connection but rather the American Heroes Channel. Yes, so it was on the TCM that the late, great Rob’t. Osborne was doing a Jeanne Moreau retrospective and we were immediately hooked. The Buñuel version of Diary of Chambermaid was unforgettable, especially the depraved part in which Moreau prances around in her little boots. Scandalous. Continue reading →
