Last day of The Oblahblah Administration now, and while he tended to deport (!) himself gracefully and tastefully, there were more than a few failures and contradictions: Guantanamo still open, killer drone strikes all over the place, embarrassingly yawning Mideast rebel training, an unmerited Nobel Peace Prize, Fast and Furious gun-smuggling, violable red lines, inability or reluctance to engage in legislative battles, etc. Surely he could be too cool for school. We don’t watch too much television, and it shows in our general unhipness and overall lack of pop-culture worship. However, we have always enjoyed the physical comedy of one Mistah Kevin James, primarily his Everyman shtick combined with the directness of his programmes — you don’t need to immerse yourself in perpetual angst or insufferable smugness to laugh at his antics. We will always enjoy The King of Queens way more than we would even begin to watch Frasier or Veep or Arrested Development, to name but three of many examples. Truly, if we want to challenge our intellects, we will turn off the TV and go read something eternal; way better.

That said, Kevin James has a new programme out, and this week’s episode was the best so far. Scrub over to the 1:41 mark of this clip and watch it out to the finish.
