It’s been a while, so here’s the new guy what’s gonna be with us: Kevork, the Rocky Mountain Spotted Retriever. Here we are, three months and some 30-plus pounds later, and he’s doing more than just the doggie paddle in this little snippet.

Kevork was a rescue from the mean streets of Tijuana, so technically, yes, he’s one of ’em so-called ‘other people’s babies’, not to mention an evil, criminally-inclined undocumented. Yet we have instructed him to defend his newfound turf to the death, and should Don Trump Sr. or any one of his sneering, smirking, empty-eyed henchmen try to remove him from this country, those anti-vaxxers will wish to Mammon that they had been inoculated against tetanus when they had that chance. And if this brave canine finds himself outmatched, we will indeed step in with the necessary force to keep him safe. They make jackboots for snowflakes, too, y’know. Resist!

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Aqueduct (3/2) — Race 2 was contentious, and players of all stripes made their bed with debutante Satin Sheets, Fair Odds of 3½-1 and with a connection-line/slashline readout of 19pc/13pc/20pc; she was a stalking-horse throughout, winning by 3 parts of a length at $31-even. In the finale, also contentious, only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads were taken in by Dual Qualifier Miss Emily’s Smile (98, 84); she raced ribcage-to-wire to win by 1¼ at $33-straight. Good work.

Chas. Town (0/0) — Jefferson Co. Commission considering renaming building after late county commissioner Pellish.

Fair Grounds (0/0) — ‘Recall Yenni’ gives up fight to remove Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni from office.

Fonner (3/2) — Race 3 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads took flight with Dual Qualifier Lift Me Up (93, 85); he rallied like the champion he should have been, winning by 1¼ at $25-and-00/100 cents. Race 5 was not contentious either, but again High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads didn’t think Antioch Native, 81 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis, was a turkey; he was a stalking-horse throughout, winning by 3 parts of a length at exactly $30. Good work.

Golden Gate (0/0) — Host Sharks edged by Anaheim, 2-1; Logan Couture’s 25th goal of the season was the lone tally for S.J.

Gulf (5/1) — Race 5 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads hung 10 (or for those with polydactyly, the more-appropriate 12) with Dual Qualifier Midnight Surfer (92, 80); he raced tail-to-wire to win by a clean neck at $27.20. Good work.

Hawthorne (0/0) — Host Blackhawks edge Cls. in OT, 2-1; Ryan Hartman’s 16th goal of the season was the gamewinner.

Los Alamitos (0/0) — See Golden Gate commentary.

Laurel (1/0) — Visiting Capitals beat Tampa Bay, 5-3; Wash., D.C.’s T. J. Oshie had a hat-trick plus an assist.

Mahoning (1/0) — Mercy Co. union workers rally against ‘Right-to-Work’ bill.

Oaklawn (3/2) — Race 6 was contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads plucked the strings on Love That lUTE, a sufficient 72 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; he went tail-to-wire to win by 2½ at $37.60. Race 7 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads kept things efficient via Streamline, 84 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; she raced ribcage-to-wire anyway, winning by 1 at $26.20. Good work.

PennNat (1/0) — Host Fightin’ Phils lose to Pgh., 13-8, in Grapefruit League Spring Training Action from Clearwater; Maikel Franco hit a grand-slam for Philalala.

Rillito (0/0) — Steven Stricker breaks course record at Tucson Conquistadores Classic golf tourney.

Santa Anita (1/0) — Host Clippers castrate Cleveland, 108-78; Blake Griffin led all scorers with 23 pts. for La-La Land.

Sunland (2/1) — Race 8 was contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads thought (All-The-) Way Nifty could run to that billing, field-best 95 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; he indeed went gate-to-wire to win by a clean neck at $42.40. Good work.

Tampa (3/1½) — Race 6 was not contentious, and Old-School Champeens were strong on Vakeesh, Fair Odds of 8-5; he rallied like the champion he should have been, winning by a clean neck at $36.40. Race 10 was contentious, and players of all stripes were OK with Dubini, Fair Odds of 2½-1 and with a connection-line/slashline readout of 16pc/17pc/27pc; he rallied like the champion he’s on his way to becoming, winning by 3 parts of a length at $21.20. Good work.

Turfway (1/1) — Race 7 was contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads threw no shade at Shady Creek, 84 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; he had to rally a little, though, winning by a clean half-length at $28.40. Good work.

Turf Paradise (1/1) — Race 4 was contentious, and players of all stripes stayed above the line with Dual Qualifier Topsana (84, 91), Fair Odds of 4-1; she was a stalking-horse throughout, winning by a clean head at $29.60. Good work.
