Book ’em, Danno!

It’s already been a long time since we made the virtual leap to ebooks. And now we have made the last jump, the ultimate landing over to the dark side. Kindle, we surrender!

By now, you should realize that ‘reading is feeding’, ‘reading is fundamental’, etc. But how you read is now more than simply a matter of picking up a dead-tree periodical or bound volume, propping it up with your hands or on your lap, getting adequate lighting & turning the pages one-by-one, tangible & tactile.

These days, there’s a lot less friction than that. Who hasn’t gotten arm cramps, brachial fatigue, books falling on their drowsy forehead or eyelids? Or, if no longer reading the physical materials, maybe reading instead on a phone or tablet, getting distracted with group texts concerning Wordle or Connections or Vine videos of the step-grandkids, maybe getting sucked-in by the SOcial MEdia apps?

No more! Kindle is the BLINKERS-ON of READING! Yes, this bears repeating: KINDLE IS THE BLINKERS-ON OF READING! The friction is pretty much eliminated, and the focus is greatly increased. Punch the FONT-SIZE up to MAXIMUM, expand the margins & the spacing so you don’t fret over having an overwhelming amount of type to slog through, and, amazingly, your reading becomes an every-12-seconds sprint, just like the frequency & pacing of the questions on that game show on the television. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ATTUNED TO RESPONDING TO A STIMULUS EVERY 12 secs., like those questions on that game show on television, if you have that permanent, high-octane need to respond to something four or five times a minute every waking hour, then, yes, READING ON THE KINDLE IS THE GREATEST WAY OF READING you will get to enjoy, maybe for the duration of your time here on earth.

No more excuses for not bulking-up your reading habit. The Kindle is here for yourself. As much as it pains us to have to bow to our Big E-Bookseller overlords, we must make the admission here: thank you, amazon.com. Thank you, Jeffrey Bezos. Reading is something that’s good to do, as long as it’s not The Turner Diaries or The Protocols of The Elders of Zion or Ayn Rand, etc.
