Tasty
Some people collect fine wines, bourbons, cognacs, real high-end stuff. We, on the other hoof, are connoisseurs of grapefruit-infused beers. Beers! Sorry! What do you want from us?
This one was decidedly sweeter than some of the other grapefruit beers of our acquaintance, namely the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin and the (Clayton) Kershaw’s Wicked Curve Grapefruit Wheat Ale, both of which are hoppy from the get-go and drink like craft beers.
The Radler was almost like a soft drink at first sip, close to a San Pellegrino pompelmo soda; it drank more like a cider than a beer, though not as dry as a cider.
The finish, though, was all beer, all hops, which made it superior to any of those detestable alcopops such as White Claw or hard seltzer etc. that have that disturbingly rubbing-alcohol lingering on the palate.
We rate the Radler highly, especially when paired with any kind of salty or savory food; the Radler’s big-fruit flavors can stand up to meet any challenge.
