The natural and obvious poet-lyricist predecessor to David Berman of Silver Jews: Mistah Leonard Cohen, of course.
Hard to go wrong covering Cohen, and probably you and we could do it without AutoTune or other recording-booth tricks.

Down to two horseys in Brown County Fair 7: #2 Higher Ed, #6 Just a Morgan. That’s Brown County Fair. Make a note of it.
Yesterday’s Activity:
Track (Win Mutuels Gettable $20+/Gettable)
Arlington (1/1) — Well, how often do you get to tout the same horse twice on the same card? Not often! Yet here’s Race 7 shocker Trace Creek, now a Graded stakes champeen, entered also in the earlier Race 2 on the program, a classified-allowance test. You think they scratched from the right spot? Howzat! So we were able to publicly top-tout Trace Creek twice, in Race 2 and 7, and he is withdrawn from the Race 2 allowance to go in the Grade 3 Race 7. A seeming suicide-mission! Yet Trace Creek, good enough on V6 in the classified allowance, also is good enough in the Graded race? How is this possible! Race 7 was contentious, and Trace Creek barely qualified via a slight 82 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis. He rallied like the Grade 3 champion he now is, winning by 1 at $90.40. Good work.
Arapahoe (0/0) — Rockies get back to .500, beat host Pittsburgh, 5-1; Cristhian Adames had a 2-run HR.
Assiniboia (2/1) — Southern Nights won Race 6 for Glen Campbell; it was contentious, and ’Nights was a Dual Qualifier (84, 82). He won by a clean neck at $20.40. Good work.
Belmont (0/0) — Visiting Jankees beat Oaktown, 5-1; Masahiro Tanaka went 7 strong innings to move to 2-0 on the season.
Belterra (0/0) — Reds blanked at home by Seattle, 4-nil; Billy Hamilton had 2 of Cincy’s 4 hits.
Canterbury (1/1) — Race 2 was contentious, and Congratulate Me had the skimpy but sufficient 81 on the LifeLiner Spread Column; he went gate-to-wire for a score by 3 parts of a length at $25.40. Good work.
Churchill (0/0) — Police respond to shooting near Churchill Downs.
Chas. Town (1/0) — Cicadas are back in Ohio, W. Va.
Delpark (0/0) — Wilmington City Council votes down mayor’s budget.
Emerald (0/0) — See Belterra commentary.
Evangeline (3/0) — St. Martinville man dead after car strikes telephone pole.
Finger (1/0) — Canandaigua man accused of stealing more than $24k.
Fairmount (0/0) — Road Blues double-up San Jose, 6-3; Kyle Brodziak and Troy Brouwer each scored twice.
Golden Gate (0/0) — Giants beat visiting Cubs, 5-3; Buster Posey had a 2-run HR, his 5th of the season, for San Francisco.
Gulf (3/2) — High-Octane Chancers were needed for Race 9, won by You Can’t Stop Me at $22.80; he had a eked-out 80 on the LifeLiner Spread Column in a noncontentious race — tough one. Blazing Diamond took the finale at $28-even; she was one of ’em Dual Qualifier (94, 84) horses in a contentious race. Good work.
Horsemen’s Park (0/0) — Omaha 360 celebrates Harmony Week.
Hastings (0/0) — Gunshot fired at Abbotsford hotel.
Indiana (1/0) — Indiana Dunes State Park to make changes to curb incidents.
Los Alamitos (1/0) — Angels lose at home to Balto., 3-1; Gregorio Petit had 3 hits in the loss.
Louisiana (2/2) — Publicly touted Cherokee High won Race 3 at $30.20; the race was contentious, and ’Cherokee had the competitive 87 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis. He went gate to wire to win by 3 parts of a length. In Race 6, not contentious, High-Octane Chancers were called upon to play Alexander, who had a field-best rating on the LifeLiner Spread Column; he went all the way to a 5-length surprise at $20.80 straight. Good work.
Lethbridge (0/0) — Man killed, another injured in OHV rollover northwest of Sundre.
Lone Star (3/1) — Publicly touted Uncle Ron (!) won the opener at $23.80; this was an easy get for all types (Old-School Champeens, High-Octane Chancers, Progressive-Minded Eggheads) since ’Ron was second-best on the conventional, contentious V6 Betting Line, Fair Odds of 4-1, while also having Dual Qualifier (99, 83) status. Good work.
Miles City (0/0) — Billings man stabbed multiple times in altercation.
Mountain (1/1) — A contentious maiden race for first-timer Dream for Life, top of the V6 Betting Line at Fair Odds of 2½-1 and a connection-line readout of 12pc/16pc/N/A, good enough to back. She won by 6¼ at $30.60. Good work.
Monmouth (0/0) — Jersey Shore Walk to Defeat ALS draws hundreds to Long Branch.
Northlands (0/0) — RCMP investigate fatal crash southwest of Edmonton.
PennNat (1/0) — Fightin’ Phils lose second-straight to visiting Atlanta, 2-nil; Tyler Goeddel had 1 of Philalala’s 2 base hits in the game.
Keystone (3/1) — A real King of The NetCapper Bullies Nightcap special here. Race 10 went to Arepeatee, $101-even for your win. The race was not contentious, so High-Octane Chancers were necessary to dig down deep for the good-enough 83 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis on Arepeatee. They found it, Arepeatee went gate-to-wire to win by a clean head. Good work.
Pimlico (2/0) — Ugh. See Los Alamitos commentary.
Prairie (1/1) — Not a contentious Race 4, but Chuck had a fine 92 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis, and he won by a clean half-length at $21-even. Good work.
Santa Anita (2/1) — Race 2 was won by Ladies Man, $20.40; the race was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers saw the squeaking-by 80 on the LifeLiner Spread Column, and they had a slight opportunity. Good work.
SunRay (0/0) — Ex-Farmington police officer found not guilty of sex crimes.
Thistle (0/0) — Cavs lose for first time in this year’s Big-League Hoopball Tournament, 99-84 in Toronto; LeBron scored 24 pts. in the loss.
Woodbine (4/1) — Seffeara won Race 3 at $21.40. The race was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers saw Seffeara as a Dual Qualifier (84, 88), and she won by half a length. Good work.
The WRD (1/0) — Northwest Expressway reopens after May Avenue Bridge collapse.

houston….eerrr Los Angeles we have a problem. trying to “auto compute” all races on sunday may 22. but program locks and will not preform this task. i did notice a file symbol with these int. POD. is this a obscure track with no pars? can not open either. when highlighting and clicking “open selected” AIO locks. one can auto compute only 1 race card at a time but very timely. thank you for your time (AND dont even mention the OT loss)
halochef
THANK YOU we do not rub in. We leave that for the rest of the Interwebs.
Anyway, yes, you figured it out, as you knew you would: POD is the offender. Do not open the POD bay doors, Hal-ochef.
Thank you. IN future, simply highlight all the other tracks (NOT NAMED POD) and hit the AutoCompute. You will get a boatload of handicapped races that way.
Sorry. Thank you. Best wishes. Goodbye. Later.
Thanks on both!!
