Lakes, Flowers Now…Wrecking-Ball, Rubble Soon

Goodbye, BFHollyPark! It was a long goodbye (OK, Chandler!), but now the end is truly nigh. So long.

When L. Ron Hubbard (or was it R.D.?) took over some 20 years ago, there were threats even back then that he was ready to turn it into multipurpose retail-residential. Somehow, the track was able to survive. Then it got taken over by the same developers who plowed the historic Bay Meadows under, and the drums of doom began to get louder. So much for saving the place, B** F***. Money’s money, but it does not always signify credibility. Look at that clown who stepped in and bled out the Dodgers before unloading them to an even bigger sucker. That clown walked away with more than a billion free-and-clear. Still, we would not trust him with a nickel! And now his ex-wife wants the share she originally should have gotten. Somehow, those kinds of people tend to find and deserve each other!

Meantime, get out to Inglewood, onetime City of Champions but now just City of Deserters, and visit Hollywood Park (let’s strip off the stoopid branding, OK?) before it ceases as a racetrack. If you will not make it, here is the place on a heartbreakingly gorgeous day in May 2010:
