In the news this week, another racetrack falls, and several state laws against same-sex marriage fall too. No matter your persuasion, a poppy song for your day-off Saturday.

Free ones: Rundown…

Belmont 5, 8, 9
Calder 5, 10
BFHollyPark 4, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Churchill 10, 11
Monmouth 9
Woodbine 4, 7
Arlington 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11
Louisiana 5, 6, 7
Lone Star 4

Today’s Stakes Pageantry:

Bel 9, the Grade II Peter Pan (!), is on the free page.

On the pay-side: CD 10, the Unbridled Sidney.

Appears to be a tossup in Race 6 at Lone Star, the Scholarship. Therein, #7 Tastefullyxcessive and #1 Joyful Hannah have OK chances at decent, nonfavored odds.

Hello, Omaha! Doubt your self-proclaimed Oracle will be in attendance for the Opener at Horsemen’s Park, but if he is, he likely prefers Dos Equis — erm, #4 Shesafrigidcat. More chalk in store in the finale; therein, #1 Diamonds Ace comes up trumps.

Can’t shake off the fave in Exhibition 6, either: #5 Goldstryke Glory appears too good.

And let’s make it four-for-four for (texted 4-4-4 4!) the Masters Of The Obvious: #1A Cresco Direct Hit stands out in Prairie 8, the John Wayne. Always remember that the late Mr. Wayne’s real name was Marion. Marion Robert Morrison, later perhaps changed to Marion Robert Mitchell. Later changed to John Wayne. The last of which lent itself to an airport in Orange County, Calif. Thank you!

Yesterday’s Activity: Lone Star is proving to be the Longshot Station du jour. Tejas! (Tejas!)

Last night, a King of the NetCapper Bulliesz get-out special via the appropriately named Buena Fortuna, 12-1 on the morning line and 14-1 at the off. It was a wildly unmanageable entry-level allowance at 7½f on the turf; the combination of that class-level, that distance and that surface virtually guaranteed a wide-open scramble. Ten horses entered the gate, with the favorite at an iffy 2½-1. Buena Fortuna (60-80-90 on her LifeLiner array) lagged early, legged home late, $30.20 to the good. The top three qualifiers all were OK on LifeLiner speed, with the exacta paying $157 (for $2) and the trifecta coming back $682 (also for $2).

Before that, it was Race 6 there, and Bonkersmate Tuned Crusader, 8-1 on the morning line and bet down to 6-1, also was a rallying winner on the evening at $14.20.

WMF Report:

Nocturnal Submission: Assiniboia! Yup, Manitoba. Try Race 7 (11:05 p.m. EDT / 8:05 p.m. PDT) for #2 When Willy Win. …Evangeline 4 (7:55 / 4:55) finds #1 Grandpa’s Tale ready to be spun into a winning story. …In the finale there, a King of the NetCapper Bulliesz scenario shaping up through #9 Halo Silver Deputy, #10 King of Smiles. …Additional King of the NetCapper Bulliesz alert for the last at Exhibition (7:47 / 4:47): #9 Tlatoani. …
