Southern California baseball, yeesh.

No good, Dodgers. A sub-.400 team and already 6½ behind the true professionals to the north, the San Francisco Baseball Giantsz. The Gintsz!

Moving from the Ravine and down to the O.C., “just another Halo defeat”. Amazingly, the Los Angeles de Los Angeles (!) are actually two games worse than Los Doyers at this point. This is a team with Trout, Pujols, Hamilton, Trumbo playing every day, too.

Every time your team has a good season, check out the starting pitching. The starting pitching will keep your team in a game until the offense can get something going. Once your team has been shellacked for four or five runs in the first four or five innings, it’s hard to turn back.

Net-net: The state of Major League Baseball in this region can be summed up as follows — your San Diego Padres are the best of the three teams. Magic Johnson, it’s Winning Time!

Free ones: Rundown…

Belmont 9
Calder 7, 8
BFHollyPark 8

Pay-side: Today…

Churchill 1, 2, 4, 5, 9
Pimlico 9
Louisiana 5, 7, 8
Golden Gate 2, 7
Lone Star 1, 2, 4, 7, 8

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Actually, one at Belmont, but it’s been twice-decimated (plus another 8 percentage points on top of that) by late-scratches.

Yesterday’s Activity: Wednesdays used to be the start of a new racing week; nowadays, the tracks are waiting till Thursday (or even Friday; hello, Monmouth!) to open up. So the action is relatively sparse for your Wednesday. One winner managed to emerge from the paucity of plays: Ville in Race 6 at Arlington. Ville was 8-1 on the morning line, but the action came in and he was sent off at 5-1. The middle (middling?) Pace Column on LifeLiner had him at the untoppable 99, and he in fact made the lead from the git-go to score at $13.20.

Nocturnal Submission: Night off…

Thank you. Best wishes. Goodbye. Take care now.
