OK, forlorn Mariner fans!

Special day today at the Emerald near Seattle, Wash., and the pair of stakes is wide-open.

In the eighth, the famous Grade III Longacres Mile, up for grabs, with #10 Crew Leader worth a second glance; likewise, #6 Winning Machine can do it, with sensible backup provided by favoured #11 Noosa Beach.

Big day also at the A-L-B, where the eighth today is the Chief Narbona. In it, #3 Comicsperfectstorm appears prohibitive.
