Jayson Stark now in the Baseball Hall of Fame! Even 40 years ago, when he was doing his early-week MLB recap columns in the Philalala Ink-wire (Ink-wire!), you could tell, no matter how young & innocent & inexperienced you were, that he was one-of-a-kind, a top talent, with his enthusiasm & enjoyment of his covering the sport, its athletes & their statistics coming in loud-and-clear in each crazy topic he chose, every wild sentence he devoted to those topics. Gusty again, low relative humidity…

…so, batten down the hatches & lacquer what’s left of the hair!

This fine (read: delicate, lightweight) Asian hair does not respond to all male-grooming products equally. Brylcreem & VO5 are too heavy; they mat the hair down. But these modern, hip, Millennial-type hair-treatments (but NOT styling gels) are much more flattering now. Currently, we have been getting nice results from something they call ‘Rocky Mountain Barber Company’ firm-hold pomade. In the Rumi / rheumy / roomy mode of living, there’s ample space to be mawkish one day or one moment, then raucous the next. So it is here. We have plenty of schlubs wreaking havoc on our bus today, unlike those souls on the train yesterday who went through a most eventful ride. These bus-riding schlubs, well, they all want a shot at driving the bus, being in control, steering the wheel, punching the accelerator to beat the yellow traffic signal, or braking gracefully to let random pedestrians navigate the crosswalk without fear of being run-over. The thoughtful, mawkish driver from Thursday has given way to the raw-instinct raucous driver on Friday. Yesterday, the cold, death-strewn woods of suburban Balto., Md., after a horrific train wreck; today, the pulsing, geothermally heated discotheque floors of Reykjavik!
