Their European adventure continues…

Entering tonight’s second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 matchup, Porto held a slim 1-nil lead over your No. London Arse, who needed to win the second leg by at least a two-goal margin to guarantee advancing to the next round, the quarterfinals. A draw was not enough, and would end their run in the tournament. And then there was the third possibility: a one-goal Arsenal win after both the regulation 90 mins. & the 30 mins. of extra time had elapsed. That’s how it happened, this time, for host Arsenal at The Emirates, and it would take a penalty shootout to determine which team would go through to the quarters. Scrub on over to the 10:22 mark of the video lede here to see how it turned out…

’keeper David Raya made the save that put the shootout into the history books as a victory for the Gunners: 1-1 AET on aggregate, 4-2 to The Arsenal on penalties. Ladies & gentlemen, your No. London Arse, whose most recent participation in the tournament was in 2016-17, and whose last seven round-of-16 matchups had ended in defeat, have returned to the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since the 2009-2010 season. #COYG
