Listening to orchestral or chamber music late at night on the radio is a good way to learn about the composers and their compositions. You can suck in a lot of knowledge just by having your ears open; the good stuff finds its way in. Now, it has to be on the radio, because only on the radio are the presenters are obliged to introduce the selections with interesting stories, anecdotes and history — you don’t get this illumination from Spotify or Apple Music or Music Choice or Song Robot, etc. It has to be the radio.
