Hey! Is there anyone still out there? No? Well, then, that’s good, too! Welcome back! More important, how ’bout dem E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles! We were all screaming ‘Go Birds!’ last night, I’d guess.
So, last time we posted, that was way-back in November 2024, right after your La-La Land Los Doyers clinched their World Series title against the Jankies. And before your United States presidential election of the same year became official.
Of course, we were gutted by that result, and we’re not ashamed to admit that. So, perhaps not in the most gracious, most considerate way — but certainly in the most selfish way! — we descended the stairs to the dungeon and just went off-the-reservation for all of these last three months. Likely we were not missed, yet someone out there had the courage to carry-out a welfare-check on us…

So if the State of the Nation at-large had us down, then there popped-up the additional discomfort of severe spinal stenosis roundabout the yuletide season, plus all the lovely extras attached to the condition more familiarly known as sciatica.
So, what brings us back to this here Weblog after all this radio silence? Supposedly, time heals all wounds, or at least diminishes their debilitating effects, such that the acute becomes the chronic, and the shock of the initial pain winds-up becoming a lingering set of conditions to be coped-with, managed, and life goes on, not the same as before, but life all the same.
Maybe about a week ago, obviously having known that your Philalala Iggles were going to be one of the two teams participating in Super Bowl LIX, we began to entertain the idea of getting back to this here Weblog; if the Eagles won, that would be something to celebrate from this corner. Obviously, we had held a similar optimistic outlook regarding the events of Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2024 — but that simply was not to be, maktub.
Meanwhile, we had to serve-out our sentence in the dungeon, unsure of when, if ever, we were going to reappear. Well, young friends, here we are!
We wanted to come back in a way that made us happy, and as pretty much lifelong Philalala Iggles diehards, this was the day to do it. Yet the Super Bowl was only the half of it. Another momentous development yesterday was this…
Of course, we were eating our schussing our heart out. We wanted to go along for the ride on the slopes of Buttermilk Mountain here. Also of course, we were fantastically proud of this almost-six-year-old being able to go this fast, this far, poised and in-control, on what amounted to his seventh or eighth day of skiing in earnest. Go, Leo, go! At this point, we are happy to celebrate any small wins bestowed upon us by the grace of whatever the universe wants to call it. In the rooms of recovery all over the world, it has often been referred to as a ‘Godshot’.
Again, we’ll be here again pretty much on the daily, with the recommended nighttime Strongshot & Longshot Races tacked-on at the end.
As well, we have come to understand that our purpose is no longer to remain in hiding or withhold our gift from the rest of the world. All work is service, and all service is work. We have emerged from the dungeon to engage in the human condition once more, ending the self-centered idea of quitting and misguided self-preservation. When we shrink from the world at-large, we are doing no-one any favors, especially not ourselves! As Beckett so aptly put it, ‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’ We are neither too good to stop trying, nor too special to drop-out from the World As It Is.
Thank you for listening. Best wishes.
