Hey! How ya’ doin’ over there? Well, that’s good! Already almost through the first two months of this Year of Our King & Redeemer Project 2025.
Back at a reasonable elevation now (just over 1,100 above sea level), and with much more temperate conditions (temps nudging the 80°F this weekend), the result being that the near-debilitation from the acute symptoms of the severe spinal stenosis is, thankfully, but a distant memory. Between the NSAIDs and the therapeutic mild stretching and twice-weekly, progressively more-intense sessions on the rack of the decompression table, the spasms are pretty much gone, and the condition now mostly presents as a chronic tightness along the right glute, where that muscle gives way to the semitendinosus. There’s a constant prickly feeling at the balls of both feet, and the footspeed has yet to return (or be confidently tested), but the freedom of the regular ambulatory gait has been restored — no more lumbar brace, toe-spreaders, arch-supports, etc.
When the footspeed returns, that will be a welcome development. Running-down drop-shots & hitting the wide-out forehand down-the-line after a full sprint are our calling-card on the tennis courts. Maybe we won’t be able hit that hard, flat 100mph-plus first-serve, not for a while, at least, but the return of the footspeed is our next major recovery goal.
Here’s some from Chas. Town to look at…
