Gratuitous Horse Racing Tweet of Your Day:

Schumpeter’s Gale undefeated

Buy something at a certain price, sell of its constituent parts for a greater price, and that’s what they call ‘creative destruction’, a necessary condition of your capitalist framework, even in the latest of the late capitalism we are experiencing now. The land was cheap way back when, and it’s valued at a giant premium now, so the literal underlying resource (land) no longer is being allocated efficiently via the marketplace. Sort of like that old Joni Mitchell song called ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, same as it ever was. Not enough capitalism going on at the Thoroughbreds these days; the industry is not worth the planetary space it occupies anymore. Bye-bye, racing. So long. You’ll be missed.
