All true. Most of the time when someone shakes off this mortal coil, there’s a good mix of reaction: some wailing & rending of garments, some tearing out of hair; some celebrating & anticipating when the interment might be undertaken (!) so that dancing on the grave can begin straight away. But for this gentlemen, the late, great Larry Lederman, there’s only one proper course of reaction: sadness, and then smiling upon remembering all the chuckles & laughs his racecalls would give you. All over, the reaction to Mr. Lederman’s passing has been the same as the one that Richard Lewis’s death generated earlier this week. R.I.P. to the true GOAT announcer. Thank you for taking the mickey out of public-address commentating at the racetrack.
