A toast to those who aren’t toast!
Mementoes of place of birth, place of school, place of ‘work’ (hahahahaha!)…
Only the elites can be born in Manhattan, not Queens — what! Only the elites can attend The Lawrenceville School, not The New York Military Academy (?) — without a legacy! Only the elites can play Del Mar — well, that’s untrue, surely, but if you are not a horseplayer or fan of the Thoroughbred game, you are absolutely in no way an elite, far away from being a patrician blueblood. It’s called the Sport of Kings, after all, not the Pastime for Grifters. Go get your accurate height & weight recorded for posterity and for reality — make the mob make-up some conspiracy that the scale was rigged, etc. Go conduct your infamous photo-op — sell ’em to your worshippers, who can pin the image up next to the one of Their Other Messiah. Despite all that, only horseplayers can attain elite status, salvation from the sham, from the scam; the toteboard is no place for vibes or dictators or their slavish followers. Sorry, we don’t make the rules; but they will be enforced! Lady Justice, take ’em where they need to go!
