We don’t shill for just any after-warranty car-protection service. But this here advertisement is irresistible, and our neurodivergent side absolutely is tickled at more than a few moments.
From the first five seconds, we hear the spokesman utter enthusiastically, ‘Wassup, ’murrika! It’s ya boi Ice-T.’ Right there, with the use of the phrase ‘ya boi’, the commercial could be over and already we would be sold. Not to mention the auditory surprise of the scratching turntable, which is a delightful bonus.
But it gets better, unbelievably. The segment is 1:13 through 1:24 is the clincher, a tour de force of top salesmanship. Just savor the ad copy highlighting the concepts of ‘a wrench and a screwdriver’, ‘rocket scientist’, and, the pièce de résistance, ‘when your Check Engine light comes on, well, that’s Game Over’. Ice-T said ‘GAME OVER!’ Damn straight, you better believe him! Then there’s more turntable-scratching. Who ever wrote this spot should be awarded a Clio Award today — GAME OVER!
Thank you, CarShield. Thank you, Ice-T. Thank you for bringing some entertainment and enchantment to our typically dull and dreary existence. If we didn’t have cars still under factory warranty, we’d give you the business. Thank you.
Yesterday:
Mahoning 2
#2 Captain Riley ($24.60, BestLine Fair Odds 5.71-1)
Remington 8
#7 Itz the Ditz ($43.40, BestLine Fair Odds 2.11-1)
There were two selected races yesterday. There were three win-overlay wagers, and they were about as successful as Chris Berman was in his CarShield pitch. Ice-T > Chris Berman.
