Now, speaking of grace — Where’s the sense in stealing, without the grace to be it?

Yesterday:

Gulf 4
#5 Basha ($27.20, BestLine Fair Odds 2.19-1)

Gulf 7
#4 Sand Drift ($44.80, BestLine Fair Odds 3.00-1)

Gulf 9
#9 Park Ridge Benny ($20.40, BestLine Fair Odds 4.35-1)

Santa Anita 1 (Low-Priced Overlay of the Day)
#4 What’sontheagenda ($12, BestLine Fair Odds 3.81-1)

That Santa Anita opener yesterday was indeed contentious, with the winner besting a curiously overbet 2-1 favorite while generating a 24.8pc positive-expectation situation. As well, the exacta in the opener was fairly priced by BestLine at $42.06, with a double-premium priced at $84.12; it returned $150-plus. So that was a contentious race with a nice result. Race 4, also predicted contentious, likewise generated a good outcome with the winner having an edge of 73pc and returning $14.60 to win; the exacta fair price per BestLine was $39.99, with the double-premium coming in at $79.98 — the exacta paid $106.80. So that also was a contentious race with a nice result. Race 8 was forecast contentious, but the favorite won; the best overlay there finished second at 8-1, calculated edge 123pc. Next time! Race 6 was the least contentious race on the card there, but the strong top pick we figured on was not the winner. Oh, well.

Today:

Going to Chas. Town this time, with the consecutive-race troika of the fifth, sixth and seventh having the proper price potential. However, the opener has a 44.6pc BestLine win-probability on its top-choice, with the closest rival at 12.9pc. That’s prohibitive! Later!
