Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but The City hosts Memphis this evening in a battle of above-average Big-League Hoopball teams.

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Aqueduct (0/0) — Visiting Nets beaten by Indpls., 121-109; Justin Hamilton had 16 pts. for Bklyn.

Delta (3/1) — Race 5 was not contentious, owing to a local equine herpes outbreak, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads conjured up a way past the quarantine via Dual Qualifier Ben’s Magic Stone (99, 90); he had to rally, though, and hard, winning by a clean neck at $20.40. Good work.

Fair Grounds (2/1½) — Old-School Champeens had the reptilian score with zero equine herpes on Gator Tough, Fair Odds of 3½-1 in a contentious Race 2; he won by a clean neck at $24.40. More equine herpes in Race 6, also contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads popped a wheelie on Off Cycle, a modest but sufficient 82 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; she rallied like the champion she should have been, winning by a clean nose at $53.80. Good work.

Gulf (1/1) — Race 8 was contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads could say namaste to Miss Nalenee, another modest but sufficient 83 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; she rallied like the champion she should have been, winning by 1 at $42.80. Good work.

PennNat (2/1) — Race 2 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads were piled higher and deeper (get it!) on Dual Qualifier Polished Degree (92, 80); he was a forward-factor throughout, winning by 2½ at $38.60. Good work.

Turfway (2/0) — Southwest Airlines to begin flights from Cincy to Chicagoland, Balto. in June.
