Sid nearly did

Another thriller at the arena last night: Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby (87) had two goals on fine setups from Kris Letang, but it was La-Land’s Nic Dowd who bamboozled hapless Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in overtime to score the gamewinner. Final in OT: La-La Land 3, Pgh. 2. Good entertainment.

Perhaps Pgh. was a little jaded from having blown-out Anaheim the night before. Nonetheless, Pgh. remains a fantastic team. La-La Land fortunate to get the full 2 pts.

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Churchill (1/1) — Race 3 was contentious, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads were eligible to support Dual Qualifier Aesop (94, 83); he was a stalking-horse throughout, grinding out the win by a clean head at $42.60. Good work.

Calder (1/0) — Host Panthers edge N.J., 4-3, in OT; Vincent Trocheck’s second goal of the evening was the gamewinner.

Chas. Town (1/0) — Jefferson Co. utility plan raises concerns.

Delta (2/2) — The contentious opener was open to all types via One King Cat, old-fashioned top of the V6 Betting Line at Fair Odds of 3-1 and with a good 87 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; he had to rally, though, winning by 1¼ at $28.20. Then in Race 9, also contentious, Dual Qualifier Masterly did it for the High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads; he rallied to win by a clean neck at $29.60. Good work.

Finger (0/0) — Winter parking laws take effect in Farmingdale, Irondequoit.

Golden Gate (0/0) — Sharks lose to visiting Calgary, 3-2; Brent Burns scored his 4th goal of the season for San Jose.

Hawthorne (2/1) — All types did OK in the contentious finale, thanks to Darlin Rosie, Fair Odds of 6-1 and an OK 83 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; she won by a clean half-length at $26.20. Good work.

PennNat (2/1) — Dual Qualifier I Wanda Win (94, 93) prevailed for the High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads in a contentious Race 6; he went gate-to-wire to win by 2¾ at $22-even. Good work.

Remington (0/0) — Thunder are trounced at Golden State, 122-96; Victor Oladipo led OKC with 21 pts.

Santa Anita (1/0) — See lede.
