When something’s good, it’s never gone. Thank you, Chase Utley. Thank you for preventing Home Plate Umpire Tom Hallion from having undue influence on the outcome of yesterday’s playoff béisbol contest involving your new team. Thank you, Chase Utley.

Luckily for Hallion, the game ended about 40 mins. before sundown, so he was able to hightail it to a local synagogue — plenty of ’em in La-La Land to choose from! though not in the Echo Park area over there — and atone for his poor day of officiating. Hoo-boy.

As always, one of the great annual thrills for the goyim in La-La Land is to drive on the streets of the city after sundown on Yom Kippur. Last night, about 8 p.m., and Laurel Canyon and Ventura Blvd. were free and clear, like on a Sunday morning almost, blessedly unclogged. Thank you, Yahweh! As well, the eateries were much quieter, good for the diners to not to have to put up with the hubbub but maybe not so much for the proprietors.

Free ones: Rundown…

Calder (a k a Gulfstream Park West) 5, 7, 8

Pay-side (Weekday/Weekend): Today…

Belterra 7, 9
Delpark 6
Hawthorne 8
Keeneland 5, 6, 7, 8
Remington 1, 5, 6, 8, 9
Woodbine Pending

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Keeneland 7 on the pay-side.

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Belterra (0/0) — Homicide investigation underway in College Hill.

Fort Erie (0/0) — Niagara Falls mayor in Romania on city business.

Finger (1/1) — Contentious in Race 5, but only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads could cash in on Msfreudmayweather, whose 82 on the LifeLiner Spread Column deemed her good enough; she had to rally before taking over at the furlong-grounds and winning by 3 at $46.20. Good work.

Indiana (2/0) — Muncie police investigate 3rd homicide in 5 days.

Mountain (0/0) — West Virginia Univ. to cut $45M in spending by 2020.

Keystone (2/1) — Same scenario as in the Finger commentary, except in Race 9 via Cosmic Destiny, a fine 87 on the LifeLiner Spread Column; he went gate-to-wire to win by a clean nose at $62-even. Good work.

Portland (1/1) — All right, all right, ya Longshot Louies. Are you ready? Have a seat. Brace yourselves. Unless there are gremlins at the chartmakers or somebody made a typo, here’s Race 3, contentious, but no Fair Odds on Tilltheluvrunsout, so only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads could have done this, due to a field-best 88 on the LifeLiner Spread Column on her; she went gate-to-wire to win by 2 at $306.40 — you read that right. So, please, do not count out Don Trump Sr. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. If Tilltheluvrunsout can do it, so can Don Trump Sr. Good work.

Zia (1/1) — The lucky get luckier, via disqualification in Race 8, contentious, but without Fair Odds on Dual Qualifier Deb’s Pretty Boy (98, 95); thus, to continue the theme of this recap, only High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads could see the $35.60 win mutuel through. Good work.
