Hoo-boy. Here’s a depiction of California’s Golden History of Subjugation of the Natives. See if you can sense that visual pattern.
Man, that friar looks ready to beat the little brown ones into submission. As well, the chap with the chaps has his lariat and his brand, taming the horseys plus any Amerinds who get in the way. The speculator gets the gold or maybe shoots up some unfortunate emigres who should have stayed coolies in the paddies. Finally, the director at the right orders the girl around. Howzat!
Of course, this is a wholly subjective interpretation of the mural on this building’s façade. The stated glorification of the Euro-triumphant conquistadors may be entirely farfetched and paranoid on our part. Or maybe not. Nevertheless, Don J. Trump and E.L. James would probably approve.

Yesterday’s Activity:
Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)
Aqueduct (1/0) — Knickerbockers lose with honor to eternal (San Antonio) Spurs.
Chas. Town (2/1) — This is a zOMGer. The Race 5 winner was no-go, but the Race 6 shocker, Indiana Moon — $216.80 to win! — was OK on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis (82). We cannot make this up. We suffer enough with the duds. We cannot make this up. Go see for yourself.
Delta (2/0) — No good on the stakes race, which figured wide-open. Unable to decipher the proper opening, though. Sorry.
Fair Grounds (1/0) — Sean Payton staying around, though.
Golden Gate (0/0) — Denard Span takes over CF for the Gints.
Gulf (2/1) — Race 8 well within grasp, though untouted publicly due to morning-line odds of 6-1, below our arbitrary 8-1 guideline; winner was second on Betting Line, was 80+ on both LifeLiner Speed and LifeLiner Spread, and was among the obvious contenders in a contentious race.
Los Alamitos (1/0) — Getzlaf wins the shootout.
Laurel (1/0) — Firster-surprise was desperately low on the connection-line factor; impossible.
PennNat (3/2) — Race 1 winner was fine at the top of the LifeLiner Spread Column; gettable, but maybe not toutable, owing to lowish 6-1 morning-line odds. Race 2 winner had an excellent connection-line array, but the Betting Line dynamic may have made her untoutable.
Santa Anita (2/1) — In Race 4, Back Beauty was makeable but not touted. How come? The morning-line odds of 4-1 were not good enough; however, the horse was by far the best on LifeLiner Spread Column, accordingly went gate-to-wire, and was the top-ranked experienced maiden in the field. It was not much of a stretch to play ’Beauty at 10¢ shy of an even 15-1 in real life.
Sunland (0/0) — Only five races on the card.
Tampa (1/0) — Lovie Smith firing: yea or nae?
Turfway (2/2) — Continued strong here. Race 8 winner Troisade was touted and was the top-rated experienced maiden in the field, excellent on all V6 measures. Race 9 winner Duchess Whitney a competitive 86 in the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis, but not touted because of low morning-line odds of 4-1. Regrets.
WMF Report:
