macncheese

Outside the box

All right, all right, ya HyperBowl 49 watchersz! Take it easy! If you have been invited to one of ’em fancie HyperBowl 49 viewing partiesz, you never want to show up empty-handed. You can go with the usual standbys like guacamole, onion dip and chips, and crudités, but how ’bout some homemade macaroni-and-cheese? That’s classie, Freddy Blassy!

If you are a true DIY food-fetishist, you will whisk up the roux with a little dry mustard, stir in the milk and some paprika and bay leaf and chopped onion for your bechamel, temper the egg and throw it in along with a mountain of sharp cheddar cheese. After the whole thing melts down, only then can you toss in the elbows (already cooked al dente, no doubt). Pour the whole conglomeration into a casserole dish, then sprinkle a little more cheese on top and butter-up some panko for the extra-crispy-crunchy garnish. Bake well, broil for a minute or two after that and — voilà! — the trick, she is done. Eat up!

(N.B. Of course, you don’t want to bring a dish that isn’t James Beard-worthy, so it must be taste-tested for quality-assurance; we vouch that the dish in the snapshot is restaurant-quality. Tyvm. Burp.)

ahhh! a new cooking blog! you still got any of that brandy you had for christmas w/ the eggnog? well lets add some brandy and sherry wine w/ some cream cheese and toss in some bites of those lobster critters. Lobster Mac and Cheese.(you can use the fake stuff)
OBTW another loss in the “Beat the Host” contest although had the 9 in the 4th at SA.
    helped things out.
ps about that sherry…remember “cook with the best and drink the rest”!

We set the trap, and The Chef takes the bait! Hahahahhaa.

Tyvm for the advice. Lobster mac too rich for our blood, not winning enough BTH contests. Also, still have old ideas about seafood and cheese not pairing too well.

We will try the sherry and brandy and — quelle horreur! — cream cheese. Hoo boy. Anything that The Graham Kerr (Galloping Gourmet…get it?! Galloping!) of the Burgh says, we take seriously. Except the lobster part. (But, yes, that is a hip dish in La-La Land too right now.)

      Best wishesz!

P.S. Rootin’ for a dirigible to blow up something today, that’s how it feels, this HyperBowle 49. Ugh.
