All right, all right, ya Eddie Murphy-loversz! Take it easy! Saw the guy the other day at the same Beeman Park in Studio City that plays host to such luminaries as Robert Forster, J. R. Martinez, Esai Morales, T.O. Apprentice, etc.

At any rate, your boy Eddie Murphy was filming some (surely) straight-to-video ‘movie’ called ‘Cook’. His arrival at the park — we were merely innocent bystanders, using the park as it was intended to be used, for recreation — was quite a show. He rolls up in a tinted black Escalade limousine and gets out from the back seat. He steps onto the set, does his bit, then leaves after about 15 mins. It’s doubtful the chauffeur of the Escalade had to cut its engine.

That was that, similar to how Paul Harvey must have done it in this video by Murphy’s one-time co-conspirator, the neglected Jos. Piscopo. Man, what ever happened to that guy?

At any rate, the movie bidness is not that glamorous. Yes, Eddie Murphy had the star-treatment, but the rest of the mopesz had to walk to their cars parked on the street, eating craft services and generally having to earn their pay.

Worse still were the drone-mope-drudge-grunts who sat idly by until it was time to wheel all the heavy equipment away. Yes, certainly, it was for better pay than most others doing similar toil could get, with greater benefits and the collective bargaining of a bully union behind them. Still, it did not look like very much fun, this ‘working in the industry’.

Or, as we enjoy replying to people (who are not Bradley Cooper or Jennifer Lawrence or Amy Adams) who are all too eager to say they are actors: ‘Oh, yeah? Wow. What restaurant?’

Nonetheless, the weather remains mild, and the windows at the Home Office are open at 8:34 p.m. PST on this Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 A.D./C.E.

Yesterday’s Activity: As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish, this time nearly led by Bad as Can Be in Race 7 at Portland. Bad as Can Be, top-touted from the first ‘Tuesday Sniping’ post for your 2015, was 15-1 on your morning line but four times that — 60-1 — when the bell rang. He ran to his complete LifeLiner array of 64-75-82 to close from well back to tag the place-spot, 2½ lengths behind the 4-1 winner. The winner was OK on LifeLiner, and the saver exacta — 4-1 over 60-1 — returned $351.60.
