Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Remington 5 on the pay-side.

Yesterday’s Activity: Speaking of the Remington, it was the site of Thursday’s biggest score. Specifically, Race 5, site of Bonkersmate Southern Tiger’s roaring upset. Put a tiger in your tank, and a Southern Tiger in your bank. Or something like that.

Whew. If we were creating slogans for that show called the Bad Men, we would have been defenestrated from a high floor of one of those Madison Ave. skyscrapers, that’s how iffy that ‘tiger in your tank’ reference was in the previous graf. Whew. Hoo-boy. Kindly forgive us. We are new to your country and its complicated language constructs.

Southern Tiger, next-to-last on the conventional V6 Betting Line and at 20-1 on the morning line in a contentious race, nonetheless qualified for
consideration via his competitive 91 score in the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis.

At final odds of 26-1, Southern Tiger made up ground late at the end of an eventful trip that landed him first to the wire by a clean nose; he paid $55.40 up top.
