Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but your 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels makes his season debut this evening when he takes the mound for the Phightin’ Philsz as they try to continue their domination of Los Doyersz at Chavez Ravine. For the Philadelphiansz, the Old Guysz are hitting, and the starting pitching is keeping the games close enough early.
Of course, out here in La-La Land, the baseball announcer named Uncle Vince Cullie has not neglected to mention that Ryno Howard is ‘the big butter-and-egg man’ for the Phillies, practically every time Ryno steps to the plate.
Why, Uncle Vince? Why? Also, do you ever take a breath in your life and then not say something? In other words, do you just breathe for its own sake, and not to propel some utterance from your perpetually speaking mouth?

WEDNESDAY KEENELAND REPORT—All systems go Wed.> After the A. Clarkson horse scratched in the Turf Sprint race, I guessed at M Stidham, The one that made lead in routes and first sprint ever>> ran em down at the wire for 19 bucks. The boat sailed in the first for $11.00 but ran 2nd for the double payoff. This is totally unacceptable but could not believe Race 6, SEA QUEEN got off at 3.3/1, but had to survive Joc. Objection!
Was Greedy in 5th & ran last. Another unaceptable bet was in 7th Crissy Field $7.60. ALL IN ONE knew what it was doing yesterday!!!!
Wife tagged along so I couldn’t rub against to many SKIRTZ??? But the THRILL of the day was when I received a NEW cap from “THE HAIRCUTZ”. Will have to say it’s the best hat they have had. Except the one from “CLAUDETTE”. Why isn’t there any more LOOKERS on TVG anymore ????
Today, Perfect Weather>>
Race 3—Pullin for my Van Meter Horse—-#8 Dream Softly 7/2
Race 6—#5 Special Envoy 8/1>> Those Firestone’s>> Don’t make a tire good as the Old GULF OIL tires, cannot remember the brand. Old drinkin buddy Tommy Estes owned Gulf Station in the 70’s. 3 “GO GO GIRLS” came by one evening , bout Dusk with no money to pay. Tommy told them to get on top of pumps and dance a while. Maybe could draw some business. Who pulls up, His Wife. Music was cranked as loud as “RADIO” would play. Imagine the fun in those days.
Race 7—#1 MORPHEUS 4/1>>> Oversea shipper that has odds makers attention????? Battaglia not very good at ML Odds
Guess I’ll TOUT the horse in the 6th to the “ENTERTAINERS”
The HONEYMAN
Lovely. Real slice of Americana, this. Only in Fayette Co.
Great story about the Go Go Girls at the Gulf Station. Gentrification has all but ruled out these kinds of hijinx nowadays. At least you have your memories!
