Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, so it’s down to Thursday Night American Gridiron Throwball between two teams who have combined for 5 wins. We report, you decide.
Yesterday’s Activity: Hanukkah Harriet! Harriet! She made the eighth night special in — would you believe — the OKC. Oklahoma City! Now, it is rumored that Native Americans are descended from one of the Lost Tribes of Israel, but this? Maybe there are enough Maccabeansz there to hold a minyan! Mazel!
In the opener, Bonkersmate C’Em Blazin was the 10th choice of 11 on the toteboard, actual odds of 47-1. C’Em Blazin also was 10th choice of 11 on the Betting Line. LifeLiner Speed Column, however, gave him contender status with an 81, and the race was on.
C’em Blazin, 20-1 on your morning line, had to catch up dramatically (full LifeLiner array: 60-68-81) before winning by a neck at a fine mutuel of $96.40. Dancing the horah around the menorah!
Race 6 had top-touted Rum Therapy, a first-time starter at 10-1 on the morning line and with a connection line of 16pc/12pc/19pc, winning by better than 3 lengths at 11-1, $25.60, specifically.
Another top-touted horsey, Katillac Charm, drove to a gate-to-wire score in Race 8. Katillac Charm was 20-1 on the morning line and top-ranked on the V6 Betting Line, Fair Odds of 4½-1. Katillac Charm also was OK on LifeLiner, and the wager was on at actual odds of 12-1. The win mutuel paid $27.20.
In the nightcap, a King of the NetCapper Bulliesz special, but way bet-down. Way. Sole-touted Big Country Show, 12-1 on the morning line but sent off at 19-10 as the public fave, did the business at $5.80, yielding a winning $106 daily double. Big Country Show, top of the Betting Line at Fair Odds of 3-1 and top of the LifeLiner Speed Column and the farthest-out ‘X’ on the Pace Graph, thereby qualifying for vaunted Triple Threat Horsey status, certainly looked like value ahead of time. Oh, well. From $96.40 in the opener to $5.80 in the closer. What are you going to do? Dayenu!
