Dr. Huxtable, Mr. Peepersz
ASPIRE TV. A channel for the striver-class. Ask for it by name. They show the original Cosby. This was humor at its driest, drollest and least snide — as well as at its best-natured. For example, the episode in this still was pure genius. Wally Cox was the guest star, and of course the whole 24 mins. focuses, literally, on — what else? — “eye contact” so that the lonely Cox character could find a date. They need to make more TV like this nowadays.
The whole series is a gem. Cosby is frequently put upon and comes off as hapless, sort of like the Alan Arkin character in Rafferty & the Highway Hustlers, which co-starred local Nichols Canyon resident Sally Kellerman and teen burnout MacKenzie Phillips. Anyway, there’s no Stinefield whining, no greedsters trying to get over with a power grab over everybody else. This show & ALF, #1 alwayszzzzz.
Here’s more of the 1970s credits.
These kidsz today, could they even sit through a Beckett play? What would they think of Cosby? Too bland? Not mean-spirited enough? Ah, good taste never goes out of style!

Yesterday’s Activity: Only 1 point off in the scoring-projection for King LeBron. Oh, well.
Yeah, boyszzz. Miss Da Point was the Triple Threat Horsey running in the third at Belmont, 20-1 on the morning line, 20-1 on the toteboard. This time, good news in the form of a $43-even win mutuel.
Ah, Bonkersmate Saint Zita (the patroness of dermatologists?), $11.80 in Cnl 2.
Del 1 found Star Destiny, 12-1 morning and 9-1 actual, winning straight at $21.20.
LS 1 had Slewpy’s Image doing OK at $23-and-change.

Nocturnal Submission: The eyes of the racing world will be cast on Denver, Colo., for the showdown of all showdowns, the finale at Arapahoe Park (6:20 p.m. EDT / 3:20 p.m. PDT). In it, #5 Bullfight and #9 Three Rudys and #3 Dad’s Brat and #7 Rain Feather are four horseys we think stand a chance but likely will disappoint us. …Straight-up call for #9 Holiday Flight in Cby 7 (10:27 / 7:27). …Likewise the fourth at Evangeline (7:55 / 4:55) for #5 Knockya Lights Out. …Race 10 there (10:25 / 7:25) has #1 Haliluke, #4 Lydia Cou, #6 Dancer’s Joy all in the frame of potential upsetters. …Race 7 at Northlands (10:56 / 7:56): #9 Double Kisses. …PennNat 6 (8:16 / 5:16): #5 Dancing Sparks. …
Yah! Yah! OK. Exhale now. Hoo-boy. Too much horseys sometimes. Sometimes.
Thank you. Best wishes. Goodbye. Take care now.
