Tuesday Sniping: Vote-for-Knowledge Edition

On this Election Day 2012, here’s one choice we can all agree on…

What is…a winner?

Bluffing doesn’t work here, nor does bluster. Screaming at the top of your lungs will not. Shouting people down? Sorry. Having an angry voice while flailing your arms like an infant? Nope. This show deals in fact, knowledge, hard OBJECTIVE (!) stuff, reason, and, to a lesser degree, intellect. It can teach us just a tiny bit about history, math, science, art, things that truly exist, and that are not merely the blind, raging insistence of opinion.

Turn off the MSNBC. Move the channel from Fox News. Watch a little Jeopardy! when you can. It will help you down from that political ledge. (P.S. Trebek would defeat both Rommey [Rommey!] and Oblahblah in a fair fight, no ‘dark money’ PACs allowed. As well, Trebek would obliterate D. No-Trump in any eventual write-in campaign.)

All right, all right, ya voting-age viewers who are living in the U.S.! Hopefully these stabs are more Reagan than Mondale, more Clinton than Dole, more Oblahblah than Rommey (Rommey!). Really, was that last one just inserted gratuitously? Nathan Silverberg & Sammie Wang, Ph.D. think so. Breitbart loversz believe otherwise. Who is correct? ONLY THE SHADOW KNOWS? However, it will be interesting to see the excuses trotted out tomorrow by either side. It will be particularly riveting to see what the PERSONAL-RESPONSIBILITY BIRCHER REACTIONARIES have to say. Will they accept defeat like a mensch or blame somebody? That will be the irony, wouldn’t it, if they started blaming others? Then where does all that PERSONAL-RESPONSIBILITY bravado go? As well, the people who are with religion, praying all the time, what happens if their boy loses? Then what? Will they blame Allah or themselves? Will they blame Yahweh for Sandy? What did their prayers get them? Belief, a good thing when the Friday Night Lights ethos is applied, but not a good substitute for opposing facts and science the way the Falwell-Robertsons peoples want.

On the other hoof, if Silverstein and Sammie Wang are the ones in error, that, too, will be fun to watch them walk their theories back to the abacus. Will they take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY or blame Yahweh? ONLY THE SHADOW KNOWS.

It will all unravel in 24 hours from now, better than a horserace trainer or jockey talking about how a cuppy track did them in. Pass the popcorn.
