Storm or not, the show goes on. The Kulture Vulturesz in NYC, well, many of them can be caught listening to radio station WQXR-FM 105.9. This month, that station is presenting its ‘Beethoven Awareness Month’. Each Sunday in November is ‘Marathon Sunday’. And while there’s no long-distance running in the streets today, you can listen to all nine Beethoven Symphonies in numerical order. The vaunted Fifth has just concluded, and now we’re on Symphony No. 6, The Pastoral. Of course in the Sixth, you can’t help but think of Edward G. Robinson, Charlton Heston and the latter gasping “Soylent Green is people!”.
Later on in the day, when the Ninth rolls around, you can think of Malcolm McDowell as Little Droogie Alex. What’s it going to be then, eh?
