Nathan Silverstein, ever heard of him? He generally goes by the name Mistah Nate Silver, and he forecasts things, especially the outcomes of American political elections. He is a leftist bordering on outright Marxism, for sure, but that does not invalidate his work — unlike his ideological opposites, Silverstein at least knows about maths and sciences and the other disciplines the reactionaries have chosen to believe no longer exist.

Anyway, this Silverstein guy has a new book out, and you can buy it or not — we don’t know. However, on a podcast version of the graveyard of ossified management ideas, the HBR (Harvard Bidness Revue), he does deliver an interesting and stimulating discussion of what he does, and the general themes have obvious application to horse-race handicapping probabilists such as yourself.
