Erasmus, Gretchen Rubin, what’s the difference? At any rate, the latter dredges up the former’s “seven tips for good behaviour” — from the 16th century.

No surprise that Fr. Desiderius would find most of the modern society in flagrant disregard of his advice. He admonishes: No gossip, no unkind stories involving others, no boasting, no indulging in self-display, no seeking to defeat others in an argument, no interrupting of people as they try to tell a story, no overt inquisitiveness. Sounds rather good!

There goes E!, Bravo, Twitbook, Marcus Zuckerstein, attorneys-at-law, all that sort of stuff. Maybe certain segments of this here Weblog, too.
