Your Sunday Stakes Sweep: August 28, 2011

East Coast yesterday, West Coast now…

Nope, not natural disasters, but mile-and-a-quarter Grade I races, of course.

Indeed, you’ll find today’s HRTV/Racing Channel Pacific Classic, the ninth at Del Mar, on the free page. Have at it!

Earlier on that same card, the third is the track’s eponymous Grade II Handicap, with #3 Bourbon Bay probably a worthy public choice. Likewise, singularity (no, not the one with robots and humans) in the fifth, the Grade I Pat O’Brien (“Have Fun!” drinking your Hurricane, right?), and #4 The Factor has all the numbers, with The Factor’s X factor being his lack of recent activity.

Also on the aforementioned free page is Calder’s Race 9, the Connie Ann, not an Atlantic tropical storm but rather a race for Thoroughbreds.

Doozie marquee race on the pay-side — the eighth at Woodbine, the Grade II Play the King, in which the Boys have come up with some sort of crazy rare pentafecta box. Insane!

Best wishes for a prosperous Sunday this time.
