Your Saturday Stakes Sweep, Part II: April 17, 2011

Final time at the Bernabeu: Real Madrid 1 – 1 Barcelona.

A good game. Besides, Lio Messi looks like a young Dick Jerardi. Check it!

If nothing else, the ESPNDeportes coverage is nearly as impassioned as the performances on Live from the Met on Saturday morning. Or else it’s like going to the jai alai fronton, what with all those single-name players: Xavi, Pepe, Maxwell.

All right. As threatened, here are some potential shockers from your stakes-spectacular Chas. Town card tonight!

The fifth, the Original Gold, finds #9 Saint Zita with an exotics chance, if not more.

Mild upset call in the seventh, the Webb Snyder. It’s #8 Ju Jitsu Jax.

A zany trizacta opportunity in the headliner 10th, the Grade III (!) Chas. Town Classic. Can’t abide by the morning-line fave, so let’s try the trio of #3 Tizway, #5 Rule and #1 No Advantage.

Finally, over to the Evangeline for the ninth, the John Henry. Could be contentious, and the wild stab rests with #6 Mr. Porter, not without hope in a big field.

As always, best wishes for a prosperous Saturday (night)!
