Your Saturday Stakes Sweep: Jan. 22, 2011

Some large-price opportunities in the big-money events for yourself.

Or something like that.

We head to Fair Grounds in New Orleans for the seventh, the Dr. A. B. Leggio Memorial, always a crazy turf-sprint stakes. Top two choices on your morning line look beatable, and if he’s ready to fire, #10 Sheer Beauty can do it at a delectable price. #5 Greeley’s Rocket also deserves a bit of love.

In the ninth there, the Grade III Col. E. R. Bradley, #7 Strike Again can post the second-choice surprise, and #4 Joinem can outrun his forecast long odds.

Another mild upset on offer in the eighth at Laurel, the Nellie Morse, where #1 Baltimore Belle (not to be confused with Dundalk Deb or Charm City Enchantress) has the edge.

Wacky exactor box-up at Sunland in the 10th. #6 It’s Tera and #5 Dodson can combine, or either can win outright.

For your evening, perhaps a spin through the Tejas stakes later tonight at the Gov. Samuel Houston Race Park Emporium.

’til then, best wishes for a prosperous Saturday!
