Nighttime Is the Right Time!

Sadly, for the first time in it seems like forever, there won’t be a single Thoroughbred race run under lights in New Jersey this year.

Maybe never again. Day or night. Who knows?

You saw how beautiful night race can be. Witness this year’s finale at the Breeders’ Cup. Turf races at night are perhaps the prettiest, when you can find ’em here in the U.S. (The guys in Hong Kong are doing it properly!)

So while the turkey brines and other things decline, here are a few evening issues to consider.

Over at the Penn National, it could be an open affair. #9 Polish Shedevil deserves a longshot look, and #5 Ealing Grove appears as a legitimate low-priced contender.

Then there’s Delta‘s ninth, where you ought to be able to play against the morning-line favorite without any lasting repercussions. Perhaps one to include in the calculations, especially at the back-ends of exotics, is #1 Hazelsheartstrings.

Finally, the ninth at Chas. Town comes reasonably contentious. The view here finds #7 Mother Freedom as an irresistible stab, though #1 Missed Fly Ball also merits positive attention.

See you for your Thanksgiving!
