Your Sunday Stakes Sweep: Oct. 10, 2010

More added-money excitement for yourselves from the Bluegrass.

Keeneland’s eighth is the Grade III Bourbon and if you can find the favorite in here — the top four morning-line choices are separated by just 1 point — you might as well just put a big red X through him.

Rather, the All-In-One V6 longshot special here is #3 Machisa. LifeLiner’s Speed Column Top 3 includes that one as well as #8 Z Appeal and #4 Ocasta. The only sane thing you can do in this race, it seems, is go big — or go on to the next race.

Which in this case is the Grade I Juddmonte Spinster. Another V6 long-odds special here, courtesy of #7 Askbut I Won’ttell. Another potential spoiler is #6 Milwaukee Appeal, No. 1 on your LifeLiner Speed array.

The first three stakes on today’s big card at Remington are reserved for the PPV crowd, but that leaves the ninth and 10th for the lookie-loos.

The first of those is the eponymous Oaks where #2 No Such Word may yet to prove a legitimate fave. Hard to tell. After that it’s the Derby, and #10 No Hesitation looks strong by all preferred measures. We’ll see.

For our friends in the Land of the Loonie, the ninth at Northlands is the Canadian Juvenile. #5 Bond James Bond has all licence (how ’bout that spelling!) to kill this one, and the exactor also looks like a mortal lock, with the accomplice being #6 Boomtown Brat. (Hope he likes Sundays.)

Wrapping up the second day of the long holiday weekend — yes, even in Canada, since Monday there is Thanksgiving! — it’s the seventh and final at Hastings, the Grade III BC Premier’s. That’s at 11 furlongs at the bullring, many turns to negotiate, and, sorry, longshot fans, #4 Assessment should prove a bona fide choice.
