All right, all right, ya Portland-lovers! Take it easy! Voodoo Doughnut has opened down the street at Universal City, and given the temps in the upper 80s here in sunnie Southern California for the next few days, we thought it was as good a time as any to bring out this all-time fave, a real spring, spring-summer song. You’ll be humming it all day long. Voodoo Doughnut comes up from 0:07 to 0:23. Continue reading

Not big Grateful Dead fans, probably owing to all the young Reaganites at L’ville in the early-to-mid-1980s enjoying them so much but not really having the hippie ethos/bona fides to back it up — even back then the smell-test and dreck-detector were working OK! Oh, well. Continue reading

Everything’s better when you read off the Autocue (read: TelePrompTer). Still, we have no hesitation calling the current leader by the nickname ‘Pres. Very-Optional Adverb-Adjective.’ He likes the word ‘very’ very much. He also likes adverbs and adjectives after that. This is counter to the sturdy advice of Strunk & White, who remind us that, paraphrasing here, ‘nouns and verbs do the heavy lifting’. We’ll see. However, this speech was good since it was mainly recited off the Autocue/TelePrompTer. Thank you. Good work. Autocue/TelePrompTer is your friend if you have trouble with nouns and verbs doing the heavy lifting. Oblahblah: master of reading off the Autocue/TelePrompTer. Also, some say he was born in Kenya. How are those private investigators in Hawaii doing these days? Did they come up with the dirt? Or did they move on to the Central Park Five now? Inquiring minds want to know! However, if the current leader by the nickname ‘Pres. Very-Optional Adverb-Adjective’ wants to do more recitation off the Autocue/TelePrompTer, we should all be grateful to him and all those private investigators doing the heavy lifting in Hawaii and in Central Park. Good work. Continue reading
