More stunning DelPark

We are your unofficial West Coast mouthpiece of Delaware Park. A lot of times your first racetrack experience (generally in your single-digit age-range) takes place at a track that long ago was consigned to the road-apple bin of turf history. Lucky to have a place like Delaware Park, Stanton, Del., for still being there (coexisting well enough with casino gaming), and for being good enough those nearly 50 yrs. ago to make the maiden Thoroughbred voyage an engrossing one.

BestLine Racing Society Recap:

Some post-press-time connections to report from last night’s (Thursday’s) late action. At Opelousas, La., #8 Nopenottonight (.237 Win Prob / 3.22-1 Fair Odds / 4.91-1 Premium Odds) did not run to that billing, relegating its sentiment to her rivals in a $13.40 Race 6 surprise. At Grantville, Penna., Race 4 went to #2 Sassy Lad (.473 / 1.11 / 1.54) at $5-even — granted, this was 8¢ shy of the premium price of $5.08; however, we could not blame you if you decided to sacrifice those eight pennies as a Tribute upon The Altar of The God of Doing Business via The Parimutuels. We report, you decide! At Pleasanton, NorCal, #1 Kiki Krazy (.266 / 2.76 / 3.51) remained sufficiently sane to take Race 6 at $14-even; completing your winning $62.20 exacta was #8 Hollywood Mistress (.187 / 4.35 / 6.49), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $52.57. At Etobicoke Int’l., #8 Zodiac Beach (.225 / 3.44 / 4.33) kicked sand upon her foes in Race 7 at $71.60; completing your winning $173.50 exacta was #3 Ghostly Perfection (.275 / 2.64 / 3.36), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $37.75.

As for today (Friday), some of the races went like this…

Starting as we frequently do in The Empire State of New York, within the municipality of Ozone Park, whose opener went to #6 April Antics (.306 / 2.27 / 2.92) at $9.10.

Via Chas. Town, W.Va., Race 2 had #5 Prota (.193 / 4.18 / 6.25) and #4 Pyeong Chang (.309 / 2.24 / 2.88) combining on your winning $58.40 exacta whose premium price was $48.50. Next race there, #1 Mr. Busta (.466 / 1.15 / 1.58) was a low-priced ousta (what?!) at $5.60. In Race 4, #3 Auburn Mill (.259 / 2.86 / 3.63) won it for Alabama at $11.40; your winning $39-even daily double had a premium price of $23.89.

At Hallandale Beach, Fla., #6 Pay Zone (.327 / 2.06 / 2.67) hit pay dirt in Race 4 at $8-even. In Race 9, which qualitatively was also the finale on this card, #6 Real Macho (.186 / 4.38 / 6.53) killed his rivals with that bitter, bitter toxic masculinity at $18.20.

To Shelbyville, Ind., for Race 5, which #1 Mohay Please (.256 / 2.91 / 4.47) shook-up at $25.20. In Race 7, #2 Current Climate (.843 / 0.19 / 0.42) won a three-horse battle royale at $3-even.

In Race 6 from The O.C. Cypress, Calif., #3 Uffda (.327 / 2.06 / 2.67) won it for Minnesota at $16-even; completing your winning $48.80 exacta was #1 mUTEki (.348 / 1.87 / 2.45), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $18.42.

Race 5 from Laurel, Md., saw #5 Self Confident (.273 / 2.66 / 3.40) walking that talk at $15-even.

Rare daytime action out of Grantville, Penna., this time, with #1 Wahoowa Wahoowa (.220 / 3.55 / 4.45) winning Race 3 for Thos. Jefferson’s Univ. of Va. at $19.80.

Big night in the Altoona, Iowa, action, whose Thoroughbred opener was, numerically, Race 4, with #3 Dreaminonthenile (.306 / 2.27 / 2.92) winning it for Egypt at $10.20; completing your winning $43.40 exacta was #1 Hanks Girl (.322 / 2.11 / 2.73), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $21.78. Next race there, #5 Lorraine’s Legacy (.218 / 3.59 / 5.42) and #2 Adria (.290 / 2.45 / 3.14) combined on your winning $64.20 exacta whose premium price was $44.87.

As is often the case, we end at Etobicoke Int’l., where Race 2 featured #7 Haahee (.192 / 4.21 / 5.25) going off at 8-1 but returning $7.60 in a dead heat for the win.
