Some post-press-time connections to report from last night’s (Friday’s) late action: At Chas. Town, W.Va., the opener went to #3 Irish Wizard (.602 Win Prob / 0.66-1 Fair Odds / 0.99-1 Premium Odds) at $5-even. Later there, in Race 5, #3 Vienna’s Twirl (.340 / 1.94 / 2.53) spun into the winner’s circle at $13.20. Next race there, #6 Akito (.237 / 3.22 / 4.06) won it for Fruits Basket at $11-even; your winning $72.40 daily double had a premium price of $35.72. At Opelousas, La., #3 Craken Jax (.168 / 4.95 / 6.14) took Race 8 at $21.40; completing your winning $295.40 exacta was #6 Stovall (.147 / 5.80 / 8.52), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $116.90. At Albany, Calif., #7 Gadding (.416 / 1.40 / 1.88) still was able to wander to a victory in Race 6 at $19.80. At Altoona, Iowa, on Opening Night, #3 Tommy’s Crue (.313 / 2.19 / 2.83) won Race 2 for Mr. Lee & his motley crew at $11-even.

As for today, plenty of action, which you’d expect of a near-summer Saturday.

Starting as we frequently do at Ozone Park, N.Y., for Race 10, won by #7 Midtown Lights (.180 / 4.56 / 6.78) at $22.60. Next race there, #10 Brooklyn Dantz (.204 / 3.90 / 5.86) did some quality hoofing in honor of Crown Hts. & Park Slope etc. at $30.40.

To Cincinnati for Race 3, which#4 Seau n’Tap (.526 / 0.90 / 1.28) won for Samoan-heritage gridiron stars the world over at $6.60. In Race 7, #6 Knicks Story (.202 / 3.95 / 5.93) went strong to the rack at $16.80.

The Louisville, Ky., opener was a serious matter to #8 Runaway Joke (.297 / 2.37 / 3.04), your $8.30 winner.

Another opener this time from Albany, Calif., where #6 Drewy (.814 / 0.23 / 0.47) won it for the incomparable Los Angeles Kings defenseman at $6.40.

In Race 6 from Hallandale Beach, Fla., #8 Big City (.889 / 0.12 / 0.35) had the brightest lights in a field lousy with firsters at $3-even.

At Stickney, Ill., #5 Blurt (.239 / 3.18 / 4.02) made the winning sound in Race 3 at $25.40.

Opening Day at Oceanport, N.J., #7 My Boy Colton (.135 / 6.41 / 9.37) kicked it off in style, upsetting Race 6 at $33.20.

From Old Hilltop, Balto., Md., news of the opener, which was won by #1 Eye On the Candy (.231 / 3.33 / 5.06) at $15.40; completing your winning $64.80 exacta was #5 Entrust (.267 / 2.75 / 3.49), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $45.43.

Ending as we frequently do at Etobicoke Int’l., and Race 5 there, where #2 Chromeplated Heart (.195 / 4.13 / 6.18) was pure gold at $18.70.
