A couple of post-press-time connections to report from last night’s (Saturday’s) late action: At Vinton, La., Race 8 went to #1 Lagoon (.215 Win Prob / 3.65-1 Fair Odds / 4.58-1 Premium Odds) at $17-even. Next race there, #1 Arkansas Zong (.254 / 2.94 / 3.72) won it for the dear-departed Zongo Race Club at $9.40; your winning $96-even daily double had a premium price of $52.67.
As for today (Sunday), prior to tonight’s last-track-standing, it was Gulf, Aqueduct, Laurel, Tampa, Santa Anita & Golden Gate.
From Hallandale Beach, Fla., it was #4 Slim Man (.219 / 3.57 / 4.48) winding-up in Fat City in Race 3 at $12.40.
In the Ozone Park, N.Y., opener, #3 Grand Again (.222 / 3.50 / 5.31) batted a thousand at $18.40. At the other end of the card, the finale, it was #9 Financial District (.349 / 1.87 / 2.44) getting the money at $13.40.
To Laurel, Md., for Race 4, which was won by #4 Blue Trillion (.336 / 1.98 / 2.57) at $17.80; completing your winning $43.20 exacta was #6 Duela Dent (.408 / 1.48 / 1.97), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $15.26. (Disclaimer: the race was lousy with firsters.)
At Albany, Calif., Race 3 went to #3 Playboy Style (.295 / 2.39 / 3.07) at $8.40.
