Well-deserved!
Jayson Stark now in the Baseball Hall of Fame! Even 40 years ago, when he was doing his early-week MLB recap columns in the Philalala Ink-wire (Ink-wire!), you could tell, no matter how young & innocent & inexperienced you were, that he was one-of-a-kind, a top talent, with his enthusiasm & enjoyment of his covering the sport, its athletes & their statistics coming in loud-and-clear in each crazy topic he chose, every wild sentence he devoted to those topics. Yes, it was in a print medium, via old-school, broadsheet, major-daily journalism; but you could still feel the energy & zaniness! Salute!
Of course, once he jumped-ship to ESPN, like all the good Ink-wire journalists (SalPal, Stephen A., Al Morganti etc.) did, it was all over but the shouting & the induction ceremony. His style was perfect for the fast-paced antics of the old, used-to-be ‘Worldwide Leader in Sports’. But instead, now you have sleeveless bros & hot-take chads presenting their kind of sportsfotainment. No good, Chollie, no good! Bring back THE SCHWAB! BRING BACK 2-MINUTE DRILL! BRING BACK THE SCHWAB, PUNT THE EX-PUNTERS! STUMP THE SCHWAB!
