Saturday!

BestLine Racing Society Recap:

Prior to this evening’s last-track-standing, it was, in chronological order by first-post-times: Aqueduct, Gulf (a late inclusion once clement conditions there had been confirmed!), Laurel, Oaklawn, Santa Anita, Golden Gate & Delta. So, seven tracks for your Saturday, one more than the going rate — bonus!

We begin with Race 7 from Ozone (Snowzone?) Park, N.Y., where #6 Joey Freshwater (.233 Win Prob / 3.29-1 Fair Odds / 4.15-1 Premium Odds) drank from the Cup of Victory (what?) at $14.20

The Hallandale Beach, Fla.opener was lousy with firsters, so the best of the experienceds, #2 On the Dot (.570 / 0.75-1 / 1.11-1), ran to that billing and proved punctual at $4.40.  In Race 3#3 Music City Star (.213 / 3.69 / 5.57) won it for Nashville at $32.60; completing your winning $110.40 exacta was #5 Four Dawn (.224 / 3.46 / 5.25), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $69.62. Two late scratches in Race 10 allowed #3 Ship to Shore (.449 / 1.23 / 1.67) to sail into low-priced-overlay waters and then land in the winner’s circle at $5.60

To Laurel, Md., for Race 4; in it, #3 Lady Charotte (.281 / 2.56 / 3.27) and #2 Cluck Cluck (.186 / 4.38 / 6.53) combined on your winning $69-even exacta whose premium price was $49.24.

Race 6 on the Hot Springs, Ark., card went to #2 Shady Empire (.179 / 4.59 / 5.70) at $13.20; yes, this was 20¢ shy of the prescribed $13.40 premium win price, but perhaps you elected to sacrifice that score (read: the sum of 10 + 10) of centavos upon the Altar of the God of Doing Business via the Parimutuels — and for that we have respect; after all, it was the same 5-1! We report, you decide! Race 7 had #14 Sulwe (.186 / 4.38 / 5.45) won it for Lupita Nyong’o at $29.40; completing your winning $109-even exacta was #8 One Way Or Another (.143 / 5.99 / 7.39), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $91.45.

At Arcadia, Calif.#1 Jessebear (.287 / 2.48 / 3.18) won it for Yogi, Boo-Boo & Smokey at $8.80. In Race 5#9 Nesso’s Lastharrah (.167 / 4.99 / 7.38) also had the lastlaugh in a $38-even upset.

BestLine Racing Society Nightcap:

It was supposed to be Chas. Town again, but Winter Storm Ember (it / they) has put the kibosh on that. So, as we did a few weeks ago, we call the audible and reluctantly go with what’s left: Los Alamitos! Ladies & gentlemen, from Cypress, Calif., everybody, goodnight…
