Sorry but not sorry to make mention of the opener at Del Mar, Calif., in which only one experienced maiden had to fend off seven first-timers
Race 2 at Saratoga Springs, N.Y., had five first-timers taking on four previously raced entrants; the best of the experienceds, #8 My Main Squeeze (.581 / 0.72 / 1.07), clamped-down on the field in an $8.20 win. Then in Race 8, #8 Forced Ranking (.292 / 2.42 / 3.11) was first at $10.40. Next race there, #2 Vacation Dance (.173 / 4.78 / 5.94) still did enough businesslike hoofing to arrive at the winner’s circle at $17.20; your winning $71.50 daily double had a premium price of $57.04.
