Throwback Thursday now, and here’s a pre-New Gold Dream Simple Minds song. If this doesn’t make you want to hoof it down to the nearest discotheque, well, hey, sorry…?
A little more conventional-sounding electric guitar this time, and, of course, the irresistible trademark bass line this group has always delivered. Climax comes around the 3:50 mark with the guitar squawking in the space between the words, and then, after that, the bass tickling its way infectiously into the next gap.
For snickers & giggles, here’s the very 1980s music video that accompanied the release of the single.
Again, the visuals are a time capsule, stuck in the 20th-century, a cringe artifact perhaps. But the music undeniably still feels pretty good some 40 yrs. later.
