Nat’l Sweater Day now, and while you don’t really need this kind of cable-knit bulkiness for sunny Southern California even in the winter, it’s a different story in the tony-but-chilly resort town of Aspen, Colo., during the après-ski scene this time of year.
There’s an old saying about how you ‘learn to ski in the summer’. Well, we made our first attempt on the slopes just about a year ago, at the advanced age of 54, and we’re going back there tomorrow for a week, so we shall see if we have gotten any better at skiing after 51 weeks of not having done it: a spring, a summer, an autumn & half a winter of uninvolved instruction. So, let’s schuss! (Um, not really! It will be the opposite of that, of course, much slower & much more sinuous!)
